“Drop scones, not bombs”, what a cute saying! These are not drop scones, but you get the point 🙂 Pumpkin and Spices are such wonderful fall flavours, and to top that off, it’s Christmas time too! So, fire up that oven and let’s make scones!

Ingredients (Makes 8 Scones)

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground clove
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 Tbsp cream
  • 1 egg

Spiced Icing

  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp milk

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350F
  2. Sift all the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl
  3. Rub butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles fine breadcrumbs
  4. Add pumpkin puree, sour cream and egg into the butter/flour mixture

Form mixture into a dough. Roll into 1 inch thickness and cut into desired shapes

Place cut scones onto a lined baking pan. Bake in preheated oven for 15 mins or until done

Combine icing ingredients together and drizzle icing onto completely cooled scones

*Make a pot of tea, snuggle up next to the fireplace and enjoy these scrumpdillyicious scones!
