I’ve been craving pizza for what feels like ages, and upon actually thinking about it I realized it made perfect sense – it’s been a year since I’ve had pizza! It sounds crazy but it’s understandable when you’re allergic to gluten and dairy. 

I decided to take it upon myself to test out all of the crust mixes I can get my hands on and decide on the best one. I can’t get these in store in Korea, but I can buy them online. First up is the crust mix from Simple Mills which is relatively healthy compared to a lot of the others that are filled with refined starches.

The Simple Mills mix is pretty clean as it’s made from almond flour, flax meal, cauliflower, and arrowroot flour. I was really looking forward to trying out the healthiest option first. Plus as a huge bonus it has some spices included in the crust which I thought would improve the overall flavour. 

I split the mix equally into two parts so I could make one pizza. It was about a perfect 8″ crust! I topped it with a mix of roasted garlic, tomato, pepper, mushroom, and vegan cheese.  

I kept it in the oven a little longer than suggested and it was perfect. The crust was easy to cut through and only a little fragile. It’s not doughy of course but it wasn’t dry or crumbly and I love the spices in the mix as it definitely added some flavour. 

I will definitely return to this crust mix in the future. I love the added protein in the crust from the almond flour and the flavour and overall healthiness. 

It was crisp on the edges and softer in the middle, especially under the toppings and a generous layer of sauce. Yum! Not bad for a vegan, gluten free, and paleo pizza! I didn’t feel guilty afterward either 🙂 

I give it an 8/10!
